Mr Emmanuel Ayerise, the Deputy Commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Lagos on Friday urged Nigerians to be vigilant during the festive period and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.

The deputy commander made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He cautioned that “everyone should be extra vigilant while celebrating and not forget to pray for the country.

“Everyone should be conscious of people around them, be conscious of what they are holding, what is being dropped in your area.

“Even in our various houses, we must also be conscious of strangers, keep an eye on strangers who just stand around in the area and try to find out what exactly
such a person does and what he or her want.

“Let us also be familiar with the telephone numbers of security agencies around our vicinity so that in case of any crisis, you can just call for help.’’

He also urged Nigerians not to hesitate in reporting any suspicious movement by anyone or any information to any security agencies close by.

He advised Nigerians and Christians in particular to remember the reasons for the season, adding that “we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and we need to know what He represents, which is love.’’
