Gunmen abduct Agip, NOSDRA workers in Bayelsa
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted four persons along the waterways of Southern Ijaw Local Council Area of Bayelsa State.
Two of them were said to be workers of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), while the other were government officials on a visit.
It was learnt that the oil workers, alongside the two officials, were on Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) to Azuzuama when they were kidnapped last Friday.
JIV is usually done after an oil spill has occurred.
A source, which declined to have his name in print, said the abducted persons include a staff of Bayelsa State Ministry of Environment, the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), and Agip (HSE Department).
The source disclosed that the captives were taken to an unknown destination, adding that the kidnappers have also contacted Agip to negotiate their release.
