Hoodlums carted off ballot papers at a polling centre in Amala Ntu in Ngor Okpala local government in Imo after the accreditation of voters for Saturday’s elections.

An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the hoodlums struck after the last person on the queue was accredited, taking away all the ballot papers designated for the centre.

The witness said the voters and electoral officials scampered in different directions for safety and could not return to the centre for the balloting.

The spokesman of the police in the state, Mr Andrew Enwerem, said he was yet to be informed about the development.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the electoral body did not supply the ballot papers for the presidential poll in Amachashi polling unit in Ezinihite Ward in Mbaitoli local government.

Similarly, it did not supply any ballot papers for the polling centre in Nekede, Owerri West local government, prompting the voters to disperse after accreditation.
