I’m Leaving Behind N9.2Billion Debt, Says Suswam

HE outgoing governor of Benue State, Dr. Gabriel Suswam has said that his administration was leaving behind a total debt of N9.2billion to the new administration led by Governor Samuel Ortom.

THE outgoing governor of Benue State, Dr. Gabriel Suswam has said that his administration was leaving behind a total debt of N9.2billion to the new administration led by Governor Samuel Ortom.

Suswam who made the disclosure Thursday at a news conference to herald his handing over of notes to Ortom who was sworn in yesterday, explaining that out of the amount, the sum of N6.8billion accrued from bond and N2.5billion is from banks.

Speaking further, Suswam intimated that the 13 billion Naira bond that his administration obtained in the first tenure was used for the construction of capital projects such as completion of facilities at the Benue State School of Medical Sciences, provision of new furniture at the state civil service secretariat among others.

He congratulated Ortom and wished him meritorious service, adding that he was handing over the mantle of government with great sense of fulfillment, as the period provided him an opportunity to offer service both in peace and crisis times.
