Undeterred by his 180 legislative days suspension, the embattled former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has vowed to expose more instances of corruption in the Green Chamber.

Undeterred by his 180 legislative days suspension, the embattled former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has vowed to expose more instances of corruption in the Green Chamber.

Jibrin told journalists in Abuja that apart from the allegations has already submitted to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), he would be speaking in the days ahead about how members of some investigative committees committee corruption.

“On the issue of systemic corruption [in the House of Representatives], in the next few days, I will be talking about how investigative committees are used to perpetuate corruption in the House,” Jibrin said.

Jibrin was suspended on September 28 by the House after being indicted for allegedly bringing members of the lower chamber into disrepute. The House also directed that Jibrin will not be able to hold any position of responsibility for the span of the current National Assembly as part of the punitive measures and would not be paid salaries for the duration of his suspension.

The decision, which got the endorsement of the lawmakers without a single dissenting voice, followed the adoption of the report of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges Committee, headed by Ossai Nicholas Ossai.

Jibrin had alleged the  Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, and three other principal officers were corrupt and called for their resignation and prosecution.

But the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges said in its report that Jubrin’s statements were denigrating to the House as an institution.

The report further said that the action of Jubrin amounted to an infraction of section 21 and 24 of the legislative House.

If Rep. Jibrin produce an evidence, EFCC and other security agents have to bring the three so-called Representatives to book, if is really this government are fighting corruption. Allegation is against them, let government ask him to present his facts and let the suspects defend it. Besides his suspension show that those Reps. are not representing people that elect them, to suspending Jibrin is only protecting the Speaker, not national interest.

Simply put folks, in this Jibril’s case we shall know which way Buhari’s corruption and change mantra is heading in Nigeria whether for window dressing or for actual transformation!? Part of the covert or overt ways to tackle corruption of course is through whistle blowers irrespective of where they belong even within the family as in Europe hence children are sometimes called to testify against their guardians so as to get a first hand information about a crime committed where necessary! So, Jibril please go ahead and tell more about what has been going on in the committees and let us see how the workers or labour movement and the Judiciary will react to the revelations – don’t mind the threats! I am sure President Buhari will want to know more about the conspiracies in the both Houses in the Ministries also – so more greason on your elbow!
