Former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, visited Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike at Government House Port Harcourt, lauding him for transforming the state through developmental projects.

Jonathan, after a brief reception in Government House, was led on tour of some projects at the Brick House by Wike. Addressing journalists after inspecting some projects, the former president said Wike is a worthy representative of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he has performed creditably well since assuming office 22 months ago.

Jonathan noted that Wike’s outstanding performance has become the common story across the country. He said: “I grew up in Rivers States and Bayelsa was carved out of Rivers State. Also, my wife is from Rivers State. Today is my first day of visiting Rivers State since Wike assumed office as governor. I am quite impressed with what I have seen.

Speaking while conducting the former president round the projects at the Government House, Wike said his commitment is to lift the state to higher heights. He noted that the Old Brick was restored with certain additions because of the need to preserve history of governance in the state.

The governor noted that the New Amphitheatre being constructed would host high profile guests who visit the state, while the new Government House Chapel will host about 300 worshippers.
