The annual Kinabuti Christmas party for indigent children in Lagos will hold on December 8, the organisers said in a statement.

The annual Kinabuti Christmas party for children from low-income homes will hold on December 8, the organisers said in a statement.

Now in its sixth edition, the party will take place at Orile, one of the many slums in Lagos, with about 1000 kids set to participate.

“[A] thousand kids who would go home with beautiful gifts donated by SPAR, Dana Plastic, Pepsi, Vital Columbina, Poly Products, Wilson Lemonade and Sarsoli, La Taverna and Sympli,” the organisers, Kinabuti and Friends, said in the statement.

“It promises to be a beautiful celebration full of educative and entertaining activities brought to the kids by the Eko Samba Community, WeCyclers, Maje and his HIIT, the Vama Wave Foundation, Lantern, the students of Unilag.”

Beyond feting the children, Kinabuti said funds raised from the past five editions have been invested in the renovation of six nursery and primary schools in the community.

The renovation efforts, according to the organisers, will be extended to more schools in the area in the coming year.

The children will also be taught how to promote environmental sustainability through recycling in a fun, exciting and educative way.

“The day would also serve to remind all of us that giving is not just the spirit of Christmas but one of the most beautiful and fulfilling things,” the organisers added.
