Nasarawa State police command has arrested one Mr. Stephen Ali, 25, for strangling his elder sister, Miss Patience Stephen to death in Lafia.

DSP Kennedy Idirisu, the command’s spokesman said the suspect was arrested following the discovery of the deceased on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017.

A neighbour, (name withheld) told The Guardian that the victim was a Mass Communication National Diploma (ND) holder from the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia.

He said further that the suspect murdered his eldest sister who refused to give him money to buy cocaine.

“When she refused to give him money that evening, he was furious and invited his friends who are drug addicts to force her hand by stealing her iPhone. Not satisfied, the friends, three in number, strangled her and hit her head with a hard object”, the neighbor narrated.

Idirisu said the lifeless body of the victim was discovered in her room at the family residence behind the Central Bank building at Bukan-Sidi Lafia.

He said the family members became curious and had to go knock on her door that fateful morning when she did not show up for the general Morning Prayer.

Idirisu said they have arrested one Kelvin Shehu, a friend of the suspect over the murder.

Ali confessed that he wanted to sell his sister’s phone so as to buy cocaine.
