Musa Abubakar takes over as ICPC boss


Secretary to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Usman Abubakar, has taken over the body’s leadership.The former Acting Chairman of the commission, Bako Abdullahi, handed over to him yesterday, at the end of his tenure.

Abdullahi expressed gratitude to the government for the opportunity he got to serve, both as member and acting chairman.He commended the management and staff of the commission for the tremendous support he had received from them.He urged them to extend the same level of support to the secretary.He also advised them to intensify their efforts in eradicating corruption in Nigeria.

Abdullai appealed to them not to allow the recent Transparency International’s rating of the country dampen their commitment.Abubakar commended the out-going chairman, noting that the task of running a strategic organisation like the ICPC was enormous.

He solicited the workers’ cooperation, noting that it was needed if he was to succeed in delivering on the new role.He added that having worked directly with Abdullahi, he could attest to the awesome responsibility that the job entails.The Senate is yet to confirm the appointment of new chairman and members of the commission, who the Federal Government had nominated.
