My husband’s government hijacked, says Aisha Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari may not enjoy the support of his wife if he decides to seek reelection in 2019.

“I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again,” Mrs Buhari said in an interview with BBC Hausa’s Naziru Mikailu.

Aisha Buhari suggested that the rein of the government might have been hijacked from her husband in spite of famously declaring that he belonged to nobody during his inauguration.

The Guardian had reported on Wednesday that Mrs Buhari said during the interview that the president is surrounded by people reaping where they did not sow.

“The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”

She added that “Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”

But Mrs Buhari declined to mention names of those who might have hijacked the government from her husband but noted that “You will know them if you watch television.”

However, Mrs Buhari explained she was not sure if her husband would seek reelection. “He is yet to tell me,” she declared.

In spite of her misgivings with her husband’s administration, Mrs Buhari said the government has done well to improve the security situation in the northeast.

“No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools,” Mrs Buhari

What the heck is going on? An honest admission that will help those undermining the Government?

    • Wole

No, I disagree. It is an honest admission that will help the people of Nigeria

      • Austin Uduogu

Let’s hope so, Wole. Mrs. Buhari is surely a descent first lady anyone would wish for.

Actually this woman just confirmed that Buhari is not a nepotist

…. but ignorant of those working with him.

  • Ednya

    Are these excuses for failure?

    • Austin Uduogu

Ednya, it is a mere confirmation that enemies of progress have been at work, right from day one, to see the Government fail. They are using the same money stolen from you to destabilize the state, and the consequences to suffering Nigerians is only a sweet melody to their ears. You know who those wicked enemies are, because they are men and women from your community and mine.

The only thing that is new here is that Mrs Buhari admited this publicly. Nepotism is a constant in Nigerian governments hence the embezzlements and mismanagements. The issue here is; would something good come out of her revelation? The answer is: I doubt so.

Aisha has said that her husband “does not know 45 out of 50….” This is something near ignorance. And one who does not know and does not know that he does not know, is ……And he is the President. What a testimony of one who has seen in and out for 27 years!!!
