NDE alarmed over high rate of unemployment, vices
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has expressed concern over the growing rate of unemployment in the country, the fallout of emerging new universities and consequent increase in the number of graduates.
Cross River State NDE coordinator, Mr. Gabriel Udam, who explained this in Calabar during the organisation’s job creation exercise, said the development has also increased youth restiveness, robbery and kidnapping.
Udam, however, said the Federal Government’s effort at job creation would drastically check the situation, adding that NDE has trained 76,400 youth entrepreneurs in the state in various skills.
He advised the beneficiaries to put their knowledge into practice after the training.
While commending members of the National Assembly for partnering with the Directorate, he said: “I wish to appeal to them to resettle all the participants, so they can actualise their dreams as entrepreneurs.”
