The Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Shehu Sani, has said that Nigeria would support the peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine. According to him, the continuous occupation of Palestine and the resulting instability has become the most significant source of global instability.

Sani who represents Kaduna central senatorial zone and is the chairman, foreign and domestic debts, said on Wednesday that Nigeria should stand for the peaceful coexistence of the two nations in order to promote international peace and harmony.

In a statement, he remarked: “I stand against the destruction of the state of Israel and I stand against all acts of terror against Israel and I equally stand against the destruction of the oppressed people of Palestine and all acts of violence against them.

“Palestine is world’s largest prisons and this must end,” stressing that the solution to the hostility between the two states “remains the only window for peace, security and stability for the people of Israel and the people of Palestine.”

“As all peace loving, democratic and progressive forces around the world joins the people of Palestine to remember the Nakba catastrophe. The occupation of Palestine and the resulting conflicts have become the most significant source of global instability.

“The Palestinian people have suffered for too long as prisoners, as victims as colonised people, the World must not continue to sit on the fence or turn a blind eye. The continuous occupation of Palestine contravened international law and stands against the principles of Justice and human morality.”

“Palestine remains the World’s last colony and the darkest moral angle in the universe. The world must continue to demand for the release of thousands of Palestinians kept for years in Israeli jails.

Sani added: “The international community must not abandoned the search for peace no matter the frustrations, the challenges and the obstacles. State of Israel deserves peace and freedom from fear; state of Palestine deserves independence and freedom from occupation.
