President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of the late Senator Mustapha Bukar, who died on Wednesday, April 4, in Abuja.

The late senator represented Katsina North Senatorial District, the President’s district, before his death following an illness.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Buhari, who arrived at the residence of the deceased at 6p.m. yesterday, said the Bukar was his very close ally “in difficulties and in joy,” adding: “His death has deeply touched me personally and officially” and Nigeria would miss Bukar’s wisdom and political sagacity.

He described Bukar as humble, honest, hardworking and God-fearing personality, who placed national interest above all other considerations.

“He played politics with decency, decorum and understanding. His death is a personal loss to me and the nation in general.”

The President prayed fervently for the repose of the soul of the deceased and urged the family to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Responding, elder brother to the deceased, Abdullahi Bukar, thanked the President and said the family was very appreciative of his visit.

The President was in company of Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

He is expected to depart Daura on Monday, April 9.
