THE two frontline senatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo South Senatorial Districts, House of Representatives Minority whip, Samson Osgaie and Matthew Uroghide have been engaged in a war of words over allegation and counter allegation of attack and kidnap.

Just last week, Uroghide alleged an attack on his convoy on two occasions; one in front of his residence in Etete Benin City and the other near Ikpogbha Hill by agents or associates of Osagie which Osagie denied and just few days ago, some lawyers led by Enogieru Osarumwenze threatened to drag Urhoghide to Court to Seek his disqualification from the March 28th, 2015 general elections over allegation that he did not present his secondary school certificate in the forms he filled with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Osarumwenze in a statement said they have “overwhelming evidence from INEC that Matthew Uroghide has failed or neglected to submit his primary six certificate and West Africa School Certificate” as required by the country’s constitution and Electoral Act 2010.

When contacted Uroghide “I am not aware of this. But it is all rubbish. They are at liberty to do whatever they want to do. But those people can be mischievous. I have been contesting elections in the past.”

The lawyers claimed that Urhoghide stated in his deposition that his “WAEC Certificate might have been missing or misplaced “ and asked that if it .is true that he misplaced his school Certificate in 2002, why has he not obtained a certified true copy of his school Certificate from WAEC thirteen years after he alleged he misplaced it.

And yesterday, the Samson Osagie for Senate Campaign Organisation (SOSCO) alleged that there was an elaborate plan by Urhoghide and his party cohorts to hire some “militants to attack /kidnap Hon. Samson Osagie, and /or some members of his family and members of his Campaign Organisation.”

A press statement signed by its Director, David Omoregie and made available to journalists in Benin alleged that Urhoghide is threatening attack /kidnapping against Hon. Samson Osagie.

He alleged that the plot is to destabilise Osagie ahead of the elections.

But Uroghide denied the allegation yesterday when he told The Guardian that “This is a celar case of a sinful man runneth when no man pursueth, I have a pedigree and I am proud to flaunt it, I am a very credible person, I am a Christian and I don’t pretend about it, violence is not in my character at all. If have any ounce of it, nobody would have been able to cheat me in politics. The thing that happened in ACN then over nomination, nobody would have dared it if I had an ounce of violence in me or atround me so for them to be alleging, it only means they don’t know.”
