THE Federal Government has expressed worry over the increasing demise of its foreign officers under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is because for the past two months it has lost some officials in the foreign ministry, which include: the former Minister of foreign Affairs, late Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, former Under-Secretary for Administration and Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, late Ambassador Gordon Harry Bristol and the former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Ambassador Felix Awambor.

Speaking in Abuja Monday night during an evening of tributes to Ambassador Felix Awambor, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Affairs, Ambassador Dan Hart lamented that for the past months that the ministry has been passing through a trying times due to the demise of it officers.

Hart said, “These are indeed very difficult times in the ministry of foreign affairs. If I have the choice I would not want to be here this evening and I believe that goes for the administration of this ministry because in the last few months there has been regular attendee of situation of this nature. Paying tributes for foreign colleagues but we can’t choose for ourselves. May God Almighty who made everything possible not allow this kind of event to happen.”

Consoling the ministry’s workers whose tears are running down their cheek at the sound of his voice, Hart said, “In the Bible, Ecclesiastes chapter 3, I will paraphrase. It says, there is time to live and there is time to die; a time to weep and the time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
