MINISTER of state for the Federal Capital Territory FCT) , Jumoke Akinjide has declared that the Federal government under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan has contributed more to the infrastructural and educational development of state owned tertiary institutions in Oyo State than the state government under Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Akinjide who is also the Oyo state coordinator of President Goodluck Jonathan reelection said in 2014 alone, the federal government expended N5B on educational development in tertiary institutions in Oyo state.

Akinjide who featured  on a local television and radio program in Ibadan accused governor of playing politics of “deceit .”

Giving the statistics,  Akinjde said the Federal Government through the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND) in 2014 alone allocated over N1b each to The Polytechnic Ibadan and University of Ibadan, with Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso receiving N661M, University a college Hospital  (UCH)  got N500M and St Andrews College of Education, Oyo and College of Education Special received N550M each.

The minister challenged the governor to come up with the total amount his government, expended on infrastructural and educational development of Oyo State owned Tertiary institutions in 2014.

Akinjide said that it was cruel for the present government in Oyo State to have abandoned the masses of the state by leaving the critical sectors of education, health and rural development almost comatose for four years.

On the now controversial $200M ADB loan allegedly secured for the state government by the Federal Government , Akinjide said it was sad that the Governor could be playing dirty politics over a very clear issue where all the records showed that President Jonathan’s government facilitated and secured the loan for Oyo State.

Akinjide added that the insistent denials of the Oyo Governor on the loan compassionately approved by the Federal Government to put a stop to the perennial Ogunpa flood disaster in Ibadan through the completion of Eleyele Water Works and the completion of the channelization of Ogunpa River was a dreadful display of ingratitude and politics of deceit by Senator Ajimobi

“I find it very shocking and appalling for our state governor to be feeding the world with such lies. I wonder what he stands to gain from this. What manner of politics is he playing? Giving credit, where it is due is mere being responsible..”, she said

The minister maintained that the President, like he did last Wednesday at the FEC when he approved foreign loans totalling $400M for four other APC controlled states(Lagos, Ogun, Ogun and Rivers) saw the need for the Oyo loan as a responsive and fair leader.
