Okonjo-Iweala, others for Action/2015 launch today

From Mali to Mexico, Senegal to Sri Lanka, Uganda to the U.K, Nigeria and indeed across the world , activities are today taking  place to launch Action/2015 , a movement galvanizing support for the campaign to convince world leaders who will hold two summits at the United Nations(UN)  this year, to tackle poverty, inequality, environmental destruction and climate change. 

 The Action/2015 movement is made up of the nearly 1,000 organisations that believe this can be a pivotal year that will change the future.

 In Nigeria, Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala will lead the dialogue at an interactive session with 15 year olds on the future of Nigeria at Sheraton Hotel and Towers,  Abuja.

Activities will also include celebrity ambassadors like Genevieve Nnaji, Samson Siasia demonstrating their support,  delegations of 15-year-olds creating inspirational visual images of “15,” public gatherings at significant locations and  transforming a landmark with “15”s etched in chalk around it as well .

 A muscal concert will also feature  celebrities such as Dbanj, Timi Dakolo, Praiz, Marvellous Odiete, Nike Laoye and Jaiye Keys all lending their voices to a worthy cause.

  The Action/2015 movement seeks that when political leaders meet and define their positions during and following two major UN summits convening in 2015, they will feel the intense and unavoidable pressure of the caring masses—and as a result will be more likely to take decisive and ambitious action.

 Those involved with Action/2015 believe world leaders must raise their ambition for humanity and have come together to call for action in 2015 and beyond.
