THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has raised alarm over an alleged plot by the leadership of the opposition parties to sponsor mayhem in parts of the state capital with a view to shattering the existing peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed.

Also , the Accord Party (AP) in the state have accused the APC and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) of planning further attacks on the opposition with a view to silencing and intimidating them ahead of the rescheduled polls.

The AP through its publicity, Dr Nureni Adeniran  also condemned the statement credited to the state chairman of APC‎, Akin Oke which alleged that the Odinjo attack was masterminded by the Accord itself and called on law enforcement agents to invite him for interrogation.

The APC in  statement by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare said some leaders of opposition parties have been holding meetings wherein it was agreed that the restoration and sustenance of peace needed to be punctured for political reasons ahead of the  general elections.

“Apparently, opposition elements in the state are not comfortable with the celebrated peaceful atmosphere since it earns the current APC administration the confidence of the electorate as well as soaring popularity among the people who were victims of insecurity, lawlessness and impunity perpetrated by the previous administrations. And since any general election is a do-or-die affair for the PDP, their leaders in Oyo State are hell-bent on employing all crude means to manipulate the forthcoming polls. Part of the plans being nursed is recruitment of some urchins who would be asked to put on APC branded t-shirts and instigate mayhem in parts of Ibadan any moment from now.

“As the whole world is aware of the fact that the PDP is a leper’s hand which has its leprous fingers in Accord Party, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party ( SDP) and others, the plan to re-introduce political unrest and chaos in the state is a conspiracy among them and it has the strong backing of the presidency since all of them have been compromised to work for the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.”, he said

But Adeniran who berated the APC chieftain for trivialising issues bothering on human lives maintained that the ruling APC was planning fresh attacks on opposition parties in the state.

Meanwhile, The Youth Initiative against Political Violence in the state has commended Ladoja for his peaceful approach and that of his party to the electioneering campaign process in the state.

The group noted the leadership qualities of Senator Ladoja, which lay emphasis on peace and stability as a foundation for progress and development.

In a press release by the Director of Communications, Ladoja 2015 organization, Akannmu Adeyanju, the group led by its President, Elder Wole Olaleye was in Ladoja’s Bodija residence on Sunday to express their condolences on the death of two members of Accord that were killed in a political attack last week in Ibadan by thugs of the leading opposition party in the state.

Olaleye praised the matured manner Senator Ladoja handled the situation, which could have degenerated into a major political crises if not for the timely intervention of Ladoja.

The group said Accord remains the most peaceful party in the Oyo state as the party as it abhors violence and the party campaigns are based on issues that will bring oneness and progress to the people of the state.
