THE Joint Union of Plateau State-owned Tertiary Institutions (JUPTI) has given the Plateau state government a two-week ultimatum to address its pending issues or it would embark on an indefinite strike.

Chairman of JUPTI, Victor Dawurung, stated this in a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Press Centre in Jos yesterday.

He said, “The union had suspended our last strike action on the 13th of May 2013 following the personal intervention of the Plateau State Head of Service, Mr. Ezekiel Dalyop and the Special Adviser on Special Duties to Governor Jonah Jang, Mr. Yakubu Jang.

According to him, “We have waited for twenty months now to see if government will reciprocate our kind gestures but government is not forthcoming even after several appeals in writing through personal reminder and press conferences.

“The union has fulfilled our own part of the bargain but government has not responded to any of the demands. We are therefore, compelled to give government a two-week ultimatum with effect from 21st January 2015 to elapse on the 3rd February if there is no response.”
