ELIGIBLE voters in Taraba State, under the auspices of Taraba Voters Watch, have collectively resolved to queue behind any of the governorship candidates irrespective of political parties that would continue with the legacy of the state governor, Danbaba D. Suntai, to herald the much needed growth in the state.

The group, therefore, canvassed the need for all the candidates to base their campaigns on issues that would tally with the agendas of the incumbent governor and desist from engaging in campaigns of calumny and character assassination.

The voters, in a press statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo and signed by its co-ordinators, Ismaila Inusa and James Bauka, said that apart from Darius Ishaku who had concretely outlined in clear and concise terms how he plans to continue with the programmes and projects of Governor Danbaba Suntai, other contestants, they said, seem not to be concerned with the mapped out development plans for the state.

The statement said: “We can understand that the other contestants belong to other political parties and may thus have their own manifestoes but they should at least have the good conscience to accept that Suntai recorded some milestones and certain developmental strides that must be sustained and continued.

“So, for them to keep quiet and pretend that this is not the case is to elevate politics above principles and campaigns above conscience.”

The voters, who are determined not to allow themselves to be fooled “this time around”, said Suntai started some life-changing projects in the state, which must not be abandoned by any worthy successor to the exalted office.

“Governor Suntai is today known by all and sundry as the most efficient advocate of peace and security.

“It is to his credit that he ensured peace and security while he was actively in control by effectively tackling crimes and criminality. Any one who will take over from Suntai must continue with this peace effort”, the group further said.
