THE Nigerian Speakers Forum (NSF) may soon wade into the leadership crisis rocking the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad said yesterday in a chat with reporters in Ilorin after the passage of 2016 Kwara State Appropriation Bill that the purported removal of the Kogi Speaker remains a mockery of democratic process and an abuse of the rule of the majority.

Momoh Jimoh-Lawal, the Speaker of the state assembly was reportedly impeached on Thursday, December 10 alongside his deputy, Aliyu Aku and minority leader Hassan Berllo. He was said to have been replaced by Godwin Osiyi, representing Ogori Magongo, who was reportedly elected as the new speaker.

Ahmad, who said the NSF could not afford to be lethargic to constitutional matters on speakership, noted that it would be the joke of the decade to believe that five members of the House could remove the speaker who is supported by 15 members.
