As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have partnered the Nigerian Heart Foundation (NHF), to create awareness on issues of heart health and promote heart friendly lifestyle.

According to Director General, NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, heart related diseases affect all gender, all ages and cuts across all socio economic and geographic lines.

Peterside who was represented by Deputy Director, Public Relations, NIMASA, Isichei Osamgbi, noted that as a corporate socially responsible agency, they are glad to participate and lend its voice through the platform put together by the NHF geared towards creating awareness on heart related diseases to help save lives.

Similarly, Executive Director, NHF, Kingsley Akinroye explained that the foundation organises charity golf tournaments around the country to encourage participation in lifestyle activities which is beneficial to the development of healthy hearts as well as prevention of cardiovascular disease.

This, he said is in its bid to reduce and prevent cardiovascular related diseases in the population and plans to raise the sun of hundred million naira from the tournament.

Captain, Port Harcourt Golf Club (PGC) Chris Allagoa said lack of awareness, knowledge facilities and resources contributes to increased cases of heart diseases across the country.
