The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, yesterday called for an international inquest to unravel the masterminds of the killings in parts of the federation.

He stated that the appeal has become necessary following what he described as the “lacklustre response of the current administration to the heinous crime and some attempts by agents of government to divert attention away from the issue.”

Receiving one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the party, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the political group, Secondus pleaded with the international community to show interest in the matter and help halt the bloodletting in the country.

According to the PDP chair, President Muhammadu Buhari only visited the Plateau governor and not victims of the herdsmen’s massacre.

He said: “Buhari, you are not a god of Nigeria. You cannot kill everybody. You cannot arrest everybody. You cannot kill all of us. You have introduced Hitler style and set the country back by 20 years. You are swimming in corruption in the Villa.”

On the alleged frame up of his party members, Secondus stated: “Maybe they are tired of framing up, but, how long will you frame up? This is the first time an administration will frame up its own, a number three person in government.”

Regarding the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states, the PDP national chair accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of setting the nation on fire, adding that the country was already divided.

Charging all the aspirants to speak out against the happenings in the country, Secondus added: “We will win Ekiti and Osun governorship elections as well as the presidential polls.”

He continued: “PDP is rebranded and repositioned. We have nothing to do with impunity and imposition.

We will conduct free, fair and transparent primaries, including that of national and state assemblies.

We have warned all our staff that anyone caught engaging in untoward practices during the exercise would be sacked. The era of money-bags is over.”

Secondus told his visitor that the party was ready to regain power and rescue the nation from the “terrible governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He alleged that because the APC administration has nothing really to offer, it had resorted to brute force, intimidation and harassment of opponents.

The PDP chair further stated: “They are harassing, arresting and framing up people but they cannot arrest and kill everybody. We are ready for them.

“ Whether they like it or not, PDP will win Ekiti come July 14 because we are on ground and have something to show.

We will also go ahead to win Osun State in September and the general elections in February 2019.

Turaki commended Secondus for fulfilling his campaign promises of leading the party transparently within the ambit of inclusiveness.
