Police in search of abductors of 14 passengers in Rivers

The Police in Rivers state has embarked on a manhunt for the gunmen who abducted 14 passengers who were travelling to Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, from Port Port Harcourt.

The Police in Rivers state has embarked on a manhunt for the gunmen who abducted 14 passengers who were travelling to Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, from Port Port Harcourt.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, yesterday disclosed that the police were conducting intense search in forest in the council for the victims.

Omoni stated that the police have been working on information that could lead to the rescue of the victims. He explained that everything will done to track down the gun men who snatched the commercial bus, ONELGA Link, ordered the passengers out before setting it ablaze

He said the gunmen had blocked the 14-seater commercial bus on Elele-Ikiri-Omoku Road and abducted all 14 passengers travelling from Omoku to Port Harcourt on Friday, evening.

It was gathered that after snatching the bus, the gunmen diverted it to Amah community in ONELGA before setting it on fire.

“Our men have being in the bush. They have been combing the bush to locate the whereabouts of the victims. We are also working towards tracking down the kidnappers,” he said.
