Police quiz Ganduje’s aide over inciting video, arrest three suspects in attacks
The Kano State Police Command yesterday confirmed the interrogation of Kano State Commissioner for Special duties, Abdullahi Abbas.
This followed an alleged hate speech and inciting statement made in a video clip against ex-governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The command also disclosed the arrest of three suspects alleged to have masterminded last Sunday’s attack on Kwankassiyya supporters in Kano.
Those arrested included two children of the commissioner, Sanusi Abdullahi Abbas, Abbas Abdullahi Abbas and house help, Nasifi Sawuya.
Addressing journalists yesterday at Bompai Police headquarters, the police spokesperson, Musa Magaji Majiya, said they were informed about the video clip, which directed that Kwankwaso be stoned in Kano.
He promised that anyone found culpable in the incident would be prosecuted.
“For now, three persons have been arrested and investigation would continue until we get to the root of the matter.
“The cases are two, the allegations against the commissioner for special duties which we are currently investigating. The commission was detained, but has been granted bail on self-recognition.
“The second issue was the attack on some people while returning from a wedding on Sunday. Investigation has commenced and we would keep you posted.”
Majiya dismissed allegation of bias against the police, noting that the attack was both political and family-related.
