Senator Magnus Abe

Scores of supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) yesterday staged a peaceful protes, calling on the Comrade Adams Oshiomhol-led National working committee (NWC) to accept Senator Magnus Abe as the Rivers State APC governorship candidate.

The protesters, who besieged the national secretariat of the party to press home their demands called on the leadership of the party to comply with the order by the Rivers State High Court that nullified the candidature of Prince Tonye Cole as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State.

The annulment came on the heels of the court pronouncement that declared that all actions taken by the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree-led executive of the state APC, including the indirect governorship primary conducted by a faction of the party led by the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, had been set aside.

Mr. Anosike Odowa who spoke on behalf of the protesters believed that the court order was in line with the wishes and aspiration of the supporters of the party, who are keen on wresting power from Governor Nyesom Wike-led Peoples Democratic Party.

He said: “If APC wants to win Rivers state then Magnus Abe is the Governor of Rivers state. We will stop at nothing. We will fight with our last strength to ensure that justice prevails.”
