THE Provost, Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Professor Sola Akinrinade has posited that the fight against corruption should not only be centred on arrest and jailing of offenders but also on prevention and enlightenment.

Akinrinade who stated this at the Opening of the UNDP-Sponsored Training Programme On Grant And Project Management for Civil Society Organisations held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Ibadan, said over the years, the fight against the scourge has been on prosecution of offenders and tasked the appropriate agencies to look beyond that.

He said, “the growing complexity of the phenomenon called corruption in recent years has made necessary a search for appropriate responses. It has also made necessary experience sharing by various organisations and agencies in order to distil best practices in the quest to rid our country of this menace.

“Over the years, various governments in the country have responded to the challenge of corruption through legislations and the establishment of agencies to tackle different ramifications and manifestations of the phenomenon.
