Razak preaches holiness, sacrifice

Former Commissioner for Public Transportation in Lagos State, Chief Lanre Razak, has urged the faithful to imbibe the virtues of holiness, sacrifice and fear of Allah, which are the essence of the festival.

Former Commissioner for Public Transportation in Lagos State, Chief Lanre Razak, has urged the faithful to imbibe the virtues of holiness, sacrifice and fear of Allah, which are the essence of the festival.

He also charged them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, stability in the country and the successful conduct of the 2019 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He made the call yesterday in a message to Muslims, saying the country will be a better place if leaders and politicians fulfill their electioneering promises to the people and draw a lesson from Prophet Ibrahim’s fulfillment of his promise and obedience to Allah’s command.

Razak, a Lagos East senatorial district aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said Prophet Ibrahim’s faith in God and total obedience to Him in promising to sacrifice his only son before Allah intervened with a ram, should serve as a lesson to all faithful because with God, all things are possible.

Razak, who is also the Balogun General of Epe Land, also said most of the meat from animals sacrificed during the festival is shared with others, adding: “The gesture symbolises the willingness of Muslims to give up mundane things to follow Allah’s commands and a lesson that all blessings come from Him”.
