The National Assembly on Thursday invited President Muhammadu Buhari to appear before a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives to explain steps being taken to take Nigeria out of recession.

The resolution was after the Senate concurred to an earlier resolution of the House of representatives inviting the president to the meeting.

The lawmakers answered in the affirmative when the question was put by the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.

“Distinguished colleagues that the senate does concur with the House of Representatives resolution on an invitation of Mr President Commander in Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to address a joint session of the National Assembly to intimate it on plans to get the country out of the recession.

The Senate, however, did not specify a date on which the President Commander in Chief is to brief the joint session.

Recall that the House of Representatives on Thursday, September 22 passed the resolution which was sent to the Senate according to legislative guidelines for concurrence.
