The Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila has assured that the House will grant autonomy to the 774 Local councils in the country.

In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Olanrewaju Smart, he disclosed that the issue is being addressed by the special adhoc committee on alteration of the 1999 constitution, as amended.

Gbajabiamila, who spoke while responding to questions from representatives of Community Development Associations at an interactive session in his Surulere federal constituency of Lagos state, also sought for the patience of his constituents on the state of the economy.

He further promised to attract more federal presence to his constituency in 2017 and ensure that solar facilities he installed in the constituency work properly for the good of the constituency. He also pledged to weigh in on the pending needs of members of his community through an academic scholarship for one student from each of the 43 Community Development Associations in the constituency.
