A pan-African organisation of youths, ONDO Young Leaders in Diaspora, has warned the factional candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, against selling the state’s assets.

The group made the allegation in a statement by its President, Tomide Akinribido in Akure yesterday.

According to him, Ibrahim was sponsored by some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to brighten the chances of the party’s candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu.

He urged the factional candidate to resist being used by external forces to fuel internal crises in the PDP.

According to Akinribido, the reaction was a follow-up to the publication of an online newspaper, which alleged that his candidacy was secured as part of a plot to sell Ore Power Plant and other assets.

The group’s president warned against falling into the trap set by outsiders to cause trouble in the state.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call some APC members to order to avert electoral violence in the coming election.

However, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Ali Modu-Sheriff’s faction, Mr. Yemi Akintomide debunked the allegations, adding that they were sponsored to discredit Ibrahim.

Akintomide said: “It is painful that Governor Olusegun Mimiko is engaging the youths to foment trouble instead of offering them employment.”

He explained that the replacement of Eyitayo Jegede with Ibrahim by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was a victory for democracy and the rule of law.

“My advise to them is to wait for the court to do justice on the matter. I urge the governor to team up with Ibrahim to retain Ondo as a PDP-controlled state which is the ultimate of the polls,” he said.
