In an attempt to obtain justice and prevent the installation of the Olubadan-designate‎, High Chief Saliu Adetunji, on March 4, 2016, the Seriki Olubadan lineage, led by is patriarch, Chief Adebayo Oyediji, has filed its intention to seek for the committal of his rival to prison at the Oyo state High Court, Ibadan.

Chief Adebayo Oyediji, who is laying claim to the throne, has asked the court to arraign the ‎Olubadan-designate, High Chief Saliu Adetunji, for contempt of court.

Oyediji in an interview with reporters yesterday at his residence accused the Olubadan-in-Council of flagrant disobedience to the rule of law, citing an earlier ‎restraining order granted by Justice M. O. Ishola on November 21, 2008.

Oyediji in a letter to the senior registrar, High Court of Justice through his counsel, A.G Adeniran, noted that Chief Adetunji who is the eighth defendant in the suit is bound by the third and fourth legs of the orders of injunction.

With his planned installation on March 4, Oyedeji said the Balogun Olubadan has exhibited ‘absolute disregard’ for the said orders of the court by presenting himself to the purported kingmakers of the Olubadan of Ibadan chieftaincy and the Governor of Oyo State for appointment as the Olubadan of Ibadan.

He wondered why people, who are supposed to be custodians of law, willingly broke the same law with impunity.

“I had tried to prevent this crisis from degenerating to this level, but they have proved to be above the law. They left me with no option than to file this suit.”

In the motion filed on his behalf by his counsel, Abideen Adeniran,‎ Chief Oyediji noted that ‎the Olubadan-in-Council had been cheating him and the Seriki Line since November 21, 2008 by disobeying the order of Justice M.O. Ishola which had granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the state Governor, the Attorney-General, the late Oba Odugade and six other High Chiefs from the Ekerin Olubadan, Ashipa Olubadan, Osi Olubadan, Otun Olubadan, as well as its equivalent in the Balogun Line “from selecting, appointing or promoting any of them to the stool of Olubadan pending the hearing and final determination of the originating summons”.
