The North-East zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 39-member Central Steering Committee to reposition the party in Adamawa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that part of the committee’s assignment was also to reconcile all the aggrieved aspirants and candidates for various positions during the 2019 general elections.

The party, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by its National Vice-Chairman (North-East), Alh. Mustapha Shaliu, said that the committee was set up to develop a programme of action for its repositioning and strengthening in the state.

NAN recalls that that the party had, since the last general elections, been embroiled in crisis, leading to the victory of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state at the poll.

Shaliu said that the committee, headed by Abdulrahman Adamu, had the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as co-chairmen.

Other members of the committee, according to him, include the immediate past governor of the state, Mohammed Jibrilla (Bindow), a former EFCC Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Dahiru Bobbo, Sen. Jonathan Zwingina and Sen. Ahmed Barata, among others.

He said that the committee was also charged with the task of proposing modalities that would ensure free and fair primaries ahead of the upcoming local government election and future elections in the state.

Shaliu said that it was also expected to propose ways and means of raising funds for the running the affairs of the party in the state.

“Its other tasks are to develop an effective media and public enlightenment programme for repositioning the party to its winning form in the state.

“To co-ordinate and support the various election petitions by the party at various tribunals and courts.

“To carry out any other function as may be directed by the National Working Committee of the APC,” he said.
