The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State Branch has called on the Kano State government to stop the current screening exercise of workers in the state, to allow them concentrate on their work.

The call was made by the Chairman of the state branch of the union, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Friday, during the celebration of 2016 International Day for Decent Work, which held in the state, with the picketing of some government and private organisations.

It would be recalled that at the start of the exercise early this year, there was disagreement between the office of the Head of Service of the state and the Labour Union, on the disclosed number of fake workers, as announced by the HoS office.

Interestingly, Minjibir had complained then that even his name was one of those listed among ghost workers.Since then, there has been serious misunderstanding about the genuineness of the ongoing screening exercise between the state and the Labour Union.

At the celebration Comrade Minjibir also called on the state government to pay the outstanding gratuity and salary arrears of teachers of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board and their counterparts.
