Political thugs yesterday attacked the Personal Assistant to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and a strong leader of the Buhari/Bagudu Support Organisation, Faruk Musa at his home.

During the attack, the miscreants smashed the windscreens of seven vehicles that were parked in front of the house with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

Confirming the attacked and the number of thugs who were arrested in connection with the incident, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mustapha Suleiman, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), said 10 miscreants suspected to be political thugs attacked and smashed vehicles parked outside the PA’s house and also inflicted machete cuts on one person.

Governor Bagudu was said to have visited Musa’s house shortly after the incident to commiserate with him over the attack and ordered full investigation into the matter.

He also directed the police to bring whoever is behind the incidence to justice.

While reacting to the incident, Chairman of Buhari /Bagudu 4+4 campaign organisation, a rival group, Kabiru Sani Giant, described the incident as unfortunate and denied any involvement of his members in the attack.

“We don’t even have thugs in our office, we don’t harbour them, so why should anybody accuse us of the attack?” He asked.

The police spokesman explained that the crisis was within the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying: “It is an internal thing for which everybody is trying to show their popularity.

“It is our responsibility to ensure that law and order are maintained in the state. So far 10 people have been arrested and they are cooperating in the ongoing investigation.”
