In a bid to check fuel scarcity in Plateau State, the Special Task Force otherwise known as Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has ordered the immediate halt of sale of fuel by the roadsides and other illegal sale of petroleum products within Jos/Bukuru metropolis.

According to OPSH spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, in a statement yesterday, all persons who are in possession of the products have 24 hours to dispose the commodity or return them to petroleum stations for custody.

The statement also added that illegal marketers operating around the vicinity of the NNPC Mega Station under the overhead bridge and other roads are equally served the same eviction notice.

Heads of security agencies resolved, according to the statement, after a meeting that compulsory seizure of the products will commence by the security operatives at the expiration of the ultimatum.

In another development, the OPSH is advising members of the public not to panic on sighting a combined “Show of Force” parade mounted by the soldiers and other security operatives in the state. The exercise started yesterday morning.

The “Show of Force”, which is expected to cover the Jos/Bukuru metropolis, will be replicated across all the local governments of the state to aid peaceful Easter celebration.

Also, security agents in Plateau State have paraded three suspected gunrunners and one military impersonator after painstaking efforts in trailing the suspects in the last few months.

The Operation Safe Haven Commander, Maj-Gen Tagbo Ude, said “the three suspects are members of a gunrunning syndicate and we have been on their trail for the past three months. We have some of their weapons, two look like the Police Mac 4 and one is a locally made automatic weapon but it is as proficient as our AK47 rifle.”Ude said the military impersonator who was arrested a few days ago in Mangu Council of the state had claimed to be sergeant.
