Three children were found dead in an abandoned vehicle, while another, a little boy, was rescued unconscious and rushed to the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital in Kano State.

The tragedy, which happened on Friday at Warri/Ibo Road in the Sabon Gari area of the state, left residents wondering how the kids found themselves in the dusty Honda car with registration number AR 687 TRN.

The windows of the vehicle had to be broken to pull out the children.

Police spokesman, Magaji Musa Majia, said the vehicle had been parked for months. He said the owner had been invited for questioning.

The father of two of the victims known as Baba Ilorin said: “I was at my work place in Kofar Ruwa where I sell spare parts, when my wife called to notify me that they were looking for the children. On getting home, around 5 p.m., four children were discovered trapped inside the vehicle.

“The vehicle had been parked for nearly three months. The owner was looking for someone to buy the car. The children were rushed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.

“Out of fear, the owner of the vehicle, called Baba Blessing, a neighbour, rushed to the police station to notify them of the matter and the police came to pick his wife and children.”
