Traditional leaders laud Dangote on CSR
Traditional rulers from Obajana, Kogi State and Ibese, Ogun State have praised Dangote’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) in their various communities that has given maximum empowerment to their sons and daughters.
HRH Oba Frederick Durojaaiye Ologbonyo Balogun, the Olu-Lagedu VI and the Olu-Apata of Apata-Ipatun Oworo, Lokoja challenged Nigerian entrepreneurs to emulate Dangote who has empowered young Nigerians with skills to be employable in the labour market. The Oba spoke at the inauguration ceremony of junior technicians scheme (JTS) batches 3 and 4 of the Dangote Academy Complex in Obajana during the week. According to him, if there were three Nigerian entrepreneurs with the determination of Dangote willing to equip future leaders with skills, the unemployment market would have been depleted.
The Olu of Imasayi, Oba Adesola Oni and Bajana of Obajana, Oba Idowu Isenibi who spoke on behalf of the host communities commended the company for its efforts at helping the country to develop manpower needed in critical areas. Speaking, the traditional leader Iwaa Land, Eleso of Iwaa, Oba Francis Migbole said with the inauguration and training, the Dangote Group is addressing the issue of insecurity in the country. Both rulers promised to continue to work with Dangote Group and other stakeholders to create enabling environments for the company’s operations.
Three of the trainees, Mayomi Samuel, Ajayi Adepegba and Blessing Oguche thanked Dangote for the opportunity given to them and promised to be of good behaviour throughout their stay at the academy.
Group Executive Director, Capital Projects, Strategy and Portfolio, Mr. Edwin said with the induction of 100 new students at Obajana, Kogi State, the Academy has now trained over 700 engineers and technicians between 2011 and 2018, and most have been employed.
