Troops of the 3 Battalion 22 Brigade of Operation Lafiya Dole busted a Boko Haram bomb-making factory in Borno State, recovering 20 gas cylinders awaiting explosive insertion for deployment.

A statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said the factory, located in Ngala town, is one of the remaining major Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)-making factories used by Boko Haram insurgents.

The statement said the factory was discovered on Friday following information leaked to the troops by good spirited Nigerians, desirous of end to Boko Haram carnage in their communities.

The statement said: “It will recalled that despite their defeat, the terrorists continued to attack innocent citizens, military and soft targets through vehicular and human borne Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Despite ongoing clearance of the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists, they persistently hid the IEDs manufacturing factories location.

“However, that would be no more, thanks to the efficient intelligence and resilience of our troops. It was based on this that we got credible and timely information that made troops to swoop on one of such factories in Ngala town and destroyed it and killed some of the Boko Haram terrorists.

“In addition, they recovered 20 gas cylinders of various sizes prepared and ready for explosive insertion, primers, gun powder, electric wires and tape recorders, among other items.

“Similarly, the troops of 7 Division Strike Group Team B attached to 22 Brigade of the counter insurgency operations in the North-East, on patrol invaded Yerwa and Kaluketu, two villages where the Boko Haram terrorists kept rustled cows.”

“In the course of the patrol, the troops also attacked an enclave of the Boko Haram, which they called “Abuja town” named after Nigeria’s capital city reflecting its significance and bustling life, as well as serving as their logistics exchange point in the North-East.

“During the operation, the troops killed four Boko Haram terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles with registration numbers 58010938 and 58008270 respectively. The troops also recovered 29 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, one dane gun, one bow and arrow, two laptop computers and six mobile telephone handsets. Others include a big truck and five motor cycles”, the statement further stated.
