• Voters will reject APC, PDP replies Buhari
• There’ll be crisis if poll is rigged, Secondus warns

The U.S. government has pledged to monitor events before, during and after the upcoming governorship election in Ekiti State.

The Political/Economic Chief at the United States Consulate in Lagos, Mr. Osman Tat disclosed this in Ado Ekiti yesterday, when he visited Governor Ayodele Fayose.

He said the government expects nothing less than credible and fair exercise in the July 14 election.

A statement by Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, quoted the envoy as saying the poll should set a higher standard for elections in the country.

The envoy said: “We are here to see the governor, to assess the situation of things and dialogue with him on preparations for the election. America is interested in the election.

“We are to monitor purposely to ensure free, fair, transparent election. We are to ensure that there is no violence, or intimidation of voters during the election.

Tat said the U.S. was particularly interested in the election because the opposition party controls Ekiti State.

Fayose commended the American government for taking interest in the election.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, has warned that there will be crisis in the country, if the poll is rigged.

He spoke in Rivers State, while declaring open, its campaign for the June 16, 2018 local government elections in the state.

Secondus said he was optimistic that Nigerians will vote out the APC Federal Government in 2019, because the PDP was united to take over governance.

“Our security agencies and INEC should not be deceived into rigging elections,” he said.

Also, the Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO), the campaign Organisation has replied President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP standard-bearer, Prof. Kolapo Olusola described Buhari’s statement that the APC must win the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State as “wishful thinking.”

KOCO Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka said this in a statement.

He challenged Buhari to tell Nigerians what he has done for the state in the last three and half years, adding that “even in Isan Ekiti, Fayemi’s hometown, nothing has happened to the Clay Kaolin that is there in large quantity, despite that their son is in charge of solid minerals.”

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Akinloye Oladele Ayegbusi has vowed to defeat the PDP and APC in the election.

Ayegbusi disclosed this at a media parley yesterday in Abuja.

According to him, his first task on assumption of office would be to create jobs through investments in agriculture.
