UNIBEN, Edo, Wukari varsities hold matriculation, orientation
About 10, 909 students did their matriculation at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) at the weekend.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, administered the matriculation oath on them.
He said: “The ceremony is an important tradition at UNIBEN, as it avails students the opportunity to formally pledge allegiance to the university authority.”
The VC disclosed that 34,497 candidates applied to the school, while only 10, 909 were offered provisional admission.
According to him, the university is known for its solid reputation for always being the best at everything.
“Both undergraduate and post-graduate runs smoothly, placing the University of Benin in second position in the National Universities Commission (NUC)’s accreditation,” he said.
Also in the state, the Edo University, Iyamho held an orientation programme for new students in the 2017/2018 academic sessions.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, pledged not to compromise the standard of the school.
He enjoined the newly admitted students to be of good behaviour and focus on their primary objectives of being in the university.
Aluyor said the school’s projection is targeted at being a world-class university.
He disclosed the school’s objectives to include acquiring education, knowledge, character development and possession of entrepreneurial skills.
Also, the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Isoken Ogboro, urged.
