Wakili denies demanding cars from Bauchi government
Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Ali Wakili, has denied allegations that members of the National Assembly (NASS) were demanding cars and houses from Governor Mohammed Abubakar.
Wakili, who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare, alleged that the problem the governor is grappling with stems from his inability to redeem his electoral promises, and “when we reminded him of such campaign promises, he said they were just mere political statements and promises.
“We also demanded good governance and that the resources of the state should be used for the people of the state,” Wakili said.
He also accused the governor of assenting to a bill that sought the removal of district and ward heads in the state, without the approval of stakeholders in the state, saying that such a development would definitely impact on the unity of the party in the state.
On allegation of NASS members demanding houses and exotic cars from the governor, Wakili said that the governor has been blackmailing members of the national Assembly, by leveling false allegations against them, which were scandalous.
