Water scarcity hits Lokoja
Damage to a major pipeline supplying water to Tank A at Ganaja Junction in Lokoja is causing scarcity of water to residents in Lokoja and environs.
A statement by the Kogi Ministry of Water Resources on Tuesday in Lokoja said the damage was on the pipeline from the Greater Lokoja Water Works connecting Tank A at the Ganaja Juncttion.
The statement, signed by Mr Usman Musa, the Public Relations Officer of the ministry, said the damage was as a result of the construction work at the Ganaja flyover.
“This is to inform the general public that the major pipeline supplying water to Tank A at Ganaja junction from Greater Lokoja Water Works has been badly damaged by TEC Engineering Ltd.
“In view of this, water supply to Lokoja metropolis will be disrupted until the damaged pipeline is fixed.
“However, work on the repair is being expedited to ensure steady supply of potable water within the shortest possible period,” Musa said.
The ministry urged residents to exercise patience and support government’s efforts to ensure adequate water supply across the state.
