A GRANDMOTHER, whose identity is yet to be known,  and a driver simply identified as Ade are in police net  for allegedly dumping the body of a seven-year-old-girl, Iyadun Ajayi, at the back of a house in Esa-Oke, Oriade Local Council of Osun State.

The Guardian learnt that the girl’s mother had divorced the father and later married an Islamic cleric in Ilesa.
Iyadun, who was living with her mother and the new husband, reportedly took ill but she did not survive the illness after spirited efforts to save her life.

Apparently disturbed by the situation, Funke, the mother, was said to have sent her mother (Iyadun’s grandmother) a driver, one Kassim and her new husband to dump the girl’s body at the back of her former husband’s house in Esa Oke.

Unknown to them that they were being watched, the trio attempted to escape but some residents who saw them alerted people in the neighbourhood, which led to the arrest of the grandmother and the driver.

A concerned resident who craved for anonymity told The Guardian in Osogbo yesterday that the ugly incident occurred last Thursday night
when the dead body of the girl was brought to their area.
He said: “We saw the people and challenged them to know their mission. We discovered that they came to dump the corpse of a seven-year-old girl at the back of her father’s house.

He explained that the alarm raised by those who saw the suspects when they brought the dead body of the girl attracted residents who gave them a hot chase while the grandmother and driver were caught.

He added that the other two persons, including the new husband of Funke, escaped.
After checking the corpse thoroughly we discovered that her private part had been removed, the two buttocks, the knees and ankles were also mutilated. We raised the alarm and chased them and two of them
escaped but the grandmother and the driver were handed over to the police,” the witness said.
