World Malaria Day: Foundation sensitises in Lagos, distributes drugs, nets
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Iba Foundation, has commenced anti-malaria sensitisation campaign in Oke-ira community in Ajegunle, Ajeromi/Ifelodun local council area government area of Lagos State.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Adepeju Salu, said it had successfully created awareness on the causes and prevention of the disease and the need to maintain a clean environment.
He said this became necessary because the disease has remained the biggest public health and developmental challenge in Nigeria and Africa at large.
“Also, we have helped the residents with malaria fighting tools like mosquito nets and drugs to reduce the spread. With these materials, we have provided the opportunity for them to push malaria out of their environment,” he said.
A resident of the area, who commended the foundation for the donation, said: “With the mosquito nets given to us today, we would be able to control the spread of malaria in our community.”
