Yale varsity holds confabs on Africa-China relations

Yale alumni inaugurate clubThe Yale University in collaboration with leading business schools in China and Africa through its MacMillan Centre for International and Area Studies is organising series of conferences on Africa-China relations with the theme: Africa-China Relations: “Balance, Growth and a Sustainable Future”.

The conferences aim to integrate African, Chinese and global perspectives on Africa-China relations by bringing together thought leaders in academia, government, business and society.

The inaugural conference, which would take place at the Lagos Business School, Lagos, between March 16 and 17, 2016, is expected to be chaired by two prominent personalities, former Nigerian Minister of External Affairs and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

According to the organisers, the conferences would enhance understanding and relationship for the benefit of both Africa and China, mobilise novel ideas, arguments and provide solutions needed to promote balance, sustainability and growth.

According to a statement made available to The Guardian, experts at the event are expected to address issues of financial assistance, urban development, the environment, governance, regulatory challenges/opportunities, social and cultural relations as well as Diaspora communities.
