Sir: The major theme in George R.R Martin’s Game of Thrones novel series is bad leadership. Various dynasties such as Dorne, Stark and Greyjoy crave governance of an entire empire when they cannot govern their own families.

Two samples of such deficient leaders will suffice. Daenarys, a descendant of the Valyrians and Victarion Greyjoy both want the empire. Daenarys who grew up in exile does not understand the politics off Westeros, yet wants to govern the place, a place her late father destroyed through a bloody civil war. She is not content with ruling the large metropolis of Meeren she conquered.

Many female politicians in Nigeria are like her; you cannot be governor of your state yet you want to rule an entire country! Governing a state would help develop Nigeria than presidency because a governor has more power than a president who is constrained by many interest groups.

Victarion is a pirate scheming to marry Daenarys and bring her army of thugs to Westeros in his fleet. This man could not be elected king of the Greyjoy clan. He is like a driver who cannot drive a car going to drive a haulage truck instead. Victarion has charisma but no brains. Piracy is not a good recommandation for kingship. In the same guise, university education is not the only qualification for presidency. Nigerian women should realise that a potential president must first be tried in the furnace of governorship. Good governorship leads to excellent presidency.
