The rumour of Senator Solomon Adeola’s (Yayi) withdrawal from Ogun State gubernatorial race might have been laid to rest, as the legislator has officially announced his decision to back out, choosing instead to pursue his re-election to the Upper Legislative Chamber.

Adeola, a staunch member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was touted as one of the gubernatorial aspirants, who can upset the incumbent governor’s plans of foisting his anointed candidate on the party.

But, his withdrawal has been a subject of intense speculations for some time now.

Although his decision to pull out of the Ogun gubernatorial race has not been made public, The Guardian gathered from a source very close to the Senator that his withdrawal, which he described as a rude shock to most of his supporters is a foregone conclusion.

In a letter to loyal members of the Ogun Yayi Movement, which The Guardian sighted, the members were urged not to be discouraged, but “incessantly be strong just like life goes on, no regret.”

The letter titled: Ogun 2019 Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi Withdrawal From Gubernatorial Race; Nothing But The Will Of God, read: “Dear Members of Ogun Yayi Movement within and outside Ogun State, I greet you in the spirit of wholeness and unity. Although, painful but thankful.

It is no news that our choice aspirant in the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial election in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola a.k.a Yayi is no more in the race as a result of his decision to back out very recently.

No doubt, as a committed and efficient supporter of this gem, it’s very painful to us and it also breaks our hearts. Nevertheless, we cannot stop thanking God.

“Furthermore, I plead with everyone not to entertain this as a thing of regret or shame, but only a reason for us to praise God, the Almighty, who knows what no man knows. He sees today and tomorrow.

Thus, we have no reason to regret, but to thank God for the gift of life.

As a formidable movement, with no incertitude, we have tried our best and honestly, all of us have done wonderfully well.

“At this juncture, fellow Yayists, I urge everyone neither to be discouraged nor unaccented, but incessantly be strong just like life goes on, no regret.

Once again, in the spirit of oneness, I commend every member of this dandy movement for being wonderful and fantastic.

As God wishes, we remain united for what is binding us is always stronger than what can separate us. In unity, we are stronger together.”

The source disclosed that the Senator’s decision was not unconnected to the fact that “(Asiwaju Bola) Tinubu is not in support and he doesn’t want to move out of APC.

At present, we don’t know where to go, because we have spent money to realise our political dreams through his platform. We are confused now; he has turned most of the leaders to laughing stock…”
