Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ondo State Chapter, has urged youths to engage actively in politics, declaring that the era of recycling same old politicians in the nation is over.

The state chairman of the party, Korede Duyile, said this at Idanre yesterday during the official declaration of Tajudeen Adefisoye to contest as member of House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.

Duyile stated that it was necessary for the youths to play active roles so as to be part of the decision making that will shape the future of the country, lamenting that the masses were tired of presenting the same set of people with the same ideology.

The chairman said the party was gaining momentum and revealed that people who were showing interest in various positions have notable pedigree and credible credentials.“Our membership is already increasing in Idanre and in the state, more people are seeing our party as a credible platform, especially the youths, to fulfil their dreams,” he said.

The SDP chieftain, flanked by other party leaders and supporters, officially presented the flag of the party to the aspirant and tasked him to promote the party in and outside the state.

While Adefisoye, popularly called “Small Alhaji” by his supporters, disclosed that he chose to vie for the elective position on the platform of SDP because it offers the youths such opportunity to vote and be voted for.

According to him, he decided to be part of the real change to liberate the people of Idanre and Ifedore councils by bringing meaningful development to the constituency.
He hinged his representation on “vibrancy in legislature, accountability through regular constituency briefings, transformation through infrastructural development and advancement in youth emancipation, women empowerment and agricultural revitalisation (VATA).

His words: “There is no development in this town, we can’t be sending same old men to be representing us always. And I believe I am the right person to bring the desired change and development to this town.”
