The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will begin its congresses from the ward level. The party also said congresses at the local council level will hold

The state’s caretaker chairman of the party, Hon. Tunde Akogun, who stated this at the executive meeting held at the Premier Hotel Ibadan, said the development would help the elected members of the party to take part in the forthcoming national congress.

He warned all the party members not to convey the party’s meeting at state level without the approval of the appropriate authority of the party, saying whoever goes against the party rules will be sanctioned.

Akogun vowed to do everything possible to have a viable and active party acceptable to the masses, adding that the party glory will be restored even with the limited time he has, adding that he will ensure free, fair and transparent atmosphere to members in repositioning the party.

He said, “Let me warn that on no account should anyone convoke a PDP meeting at the state level without my approval as any such person(s) will be sanctioned.

“If we observe the disenchantment caused by recent avoidable controversies in the state, the chances of a united and virile PDP to win subsequent elections in Oyo State is very bright. On our part, the secretary and I will do everything possible to have a viable and active party which will be acceptable to the masses that will restore our lost glory even within this very limited time. We will ensure a free, fair, transparent and conducive atmosphere to all members in order to reposition our great party for victory.”

Among the party stalwart at the meeting were, the former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Sarafadeen Alli; Senator Ayo Adeseun, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Jumoke Akinjide; former governorship aspirant of the party, Engr Seyi Makinde, and Femi Babalola.

Others are, Senator Gbenga Babalola, Senator Femi Lanlehin, Elder Wole Oyelese, Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande, Hon. Muraina Ajibola, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, Hon. Isiaka Adeola, Mr. Dotun Oyelade, and Hon. Kehinde Ayoola.
